Tennis Game: Three for Air
This game encourages players to move forward, spend less time at the baseline, and develop their net-play skills.
How the game works
Two players (A and B) begin a rally from the baseline.
They are both going to look for opportunities to get to the net because if the point is won and the winner’s last shot is a volley or overhead, she/he receives 3 points instead of one. If they win the point in any way other than a volley or an overhead, the winner receives only 1 point.
Play first to accumulate 21 points.
Note: This tennis game promotes aggressive play and getting comfortable transitioning to the net.
For doubles players, it can be played on half court – either down-the-line or cross-court.
This drill/game is part of the Tennis Drills and Lesson Plans for Coaches program, with 900+ drills for 2, 3, 4 players, large groups, cardio, singles and doubles tactics drills that coaches need.
