Five Balls Race
Here is a running drill that improves speed, quick change of direction, coordination and control. This drill can be done with either one or multiple players.
How it works:
Place one ball at each of the lines from the Doubles Side Line to the other on the same side of the court (Doubles line, Singles line, Center line, Singles line, Doubles line - five balls total). The kids place their racquets about three feet in front of the first ball in line. At command, they run to pick the balls up one at a time and place them on the racquet strings. The ball cannot leave the strings otherwise they have to run and put it back on. As a motivation, you can give them a time to beat (usually a few seconds longer than you think it will take them to accomplish the task).
It can be done as a race between the kids or a race against time.
Have fun!
